Michael R. Waters has conducted research on numerous geological and archaeological projects in the western United States and has published articles on the late Quaternary geology and archaeology of ancient ake Cahuilla, California; the structural geology of the Sapphire Thrust Plate, Montana; and the Lowland Patayan ceramic tradition of southern California and southwestern Arizona. Dr. Waters received his doctoral degree from the Department of Geosciences at the University of Arizona in 1983.
